The multiplicity of planet host stars - new low-mass companions to planet host stars
We present new results from our ongoing multiplicity study of exoplanethost stars, carried out with the infrared camera SofI (Son of ISAAC) atEuropean Southern Observatory-New Technology Telescope (ESO-NTT). Wehave identified new low-mass companions to the planet host starsHD101930 and HD65216. HD101930AB is a wide binary system composed of theplanet host star HD101930A and its companion HD101930B which is a M0 toM1 dwarf with a mass of about 0.7 Msolar separated from theprimary by ~73arcsec (2200au projected separation). HD65216 forms ahierarchical triple system, with a projected separation of 253au(angular separation of about 7arcsec) between the planet host starHD65216A and its close binary companion HD65216BC, whose two componentsare separated by only ~0.17arcsec (6au of projected separation). TwoVLT-NACO images separated by 3yr confirm that this system is comoving to theplanet host star. The infrared photometry of HD65216B and C isconsistent with a M7 to M8 (0.089 Msolar) and a L2 to L3dwarf (0.078 Msolar), respectively, both close to thesubstellar limit. An infrared spectrum with VLT-Infrared Spectrometerand Array Camera (VLT-ISAAC) of the pair HD65216BC, even though notresolved spatially, confirms this late spectral type. Furthermore, wepresent H- and K-band ISAAC infrared spectra of HD16141B, the recentlydetected comoving companion of the planet host star HD16141A. Theinfrared spectroscopy as well as the apparent infrared photometry ofHD16141B are both fully consistent with a M2 to M3 dwarf located at thedistance of the planet host star.Based on observations obtained on La Silla in ESO programs075.C-0098(A), 077.C-0572(A) and 078.C-0376(A), as well as on Paranal inESO programs 070.C-0557(A), 076.C-0057(A) and 078.C-0376(B).E-mail: markus@astro.uni-jena.de

The Carina Spiral Feature: Strömgren-Hβ photometry approach. I. The photometric data-base
A data-base collating all uvbybeta photometry available at present forO-B9 stars brighter than 10th visual magnitude in the field of theCarina Spiral Feature is presented. The completeness and homogeneity ofthe data-base are discussed.Based on CDS data.Table 1 is only available in electronic form at the CDS via anonymousftp to cdsarc.u-strasbg.fr (130.79.128.5) or viahttp://cdsweb.u-strasbg.fr/cgi-bin/qcat?J/A+A/410/523

Strömgren and Hβ photometry of O and B type stars in star-forming regions. III. Carina Spiral Feature
Strömgren and Hβ photometry of O and B type stars, generallybrighter than 9.5 mag is reported for the field of the Carina SpiralFeature. The observations are based on the PPM catalogue identificationsand are designed to improve the completeness of the existing uvbybetadata for the bright early-type stars in the field. We present new uvbyphotometry for 283 stars and Hβ photometry for 225 of them. Theseobservations are part of an ongoing effort to study the structure ofselected star-forming regions in the Milky Way by means of uvbybetaphotometry. A comparison of the new data to other uvbybeta data sets forthis field is presented. Based on data from the Strömgren AutomaticTelescope of the Copenhagen University Observatory, La Silla. Tables 1and 2 are only available in electronic form at the CDS via anonymous ftpto 130.79.128.5 or via http://cdsweb.u-strasbg.fr/Abstract.html

Empirical temperature calibrations for early-type stars
Three temperature calibrations of suitable photometric quantities havebeen derived for O and B stars. A sample of 120 stars with reliableT(eff.) determinations has been used for establishing each calibration. The different calibrations have been critically discussed and compared.Temperature determinations for 1009 program stars have been obtainedwith an accuracy of the order of 10 percent.

Intensive photometry of southern Wolf-Rayet stars
Results of an intensive photometric campaign on 17 of the brightestsouthern Wolf-Rayet stars are presented. The detection ofmultiperiodicity in two stars, HD 50896 and HD 96548, is reported. It islikely that these periodicities are not coherent but are manifestationsof the quasi-periodic variations seen in a few WR stars. A good exampleof these variations is given by HD 86161. A new eclipsing binary, HD92740, has been discovered; other stars show periodic variations whichcan be explained by phase-dependent scattering of the secondary light asit traverses the Wolf-Rayet wind. An important conclusion of this studyis that not a single example was found of short-period variations whichcan be attributed to pulsation.
