Large-Scale Structure and Dynamics of Cassiopeia OB7
A large region (9°×9°) surrounding the OB associationCassiopeia OB7 has been studied for signs of interaction between thestars and the ambient gas. A large half-shell has been detected in H Iaround Cas OB7, as well as in the infrared and partially in CO. Thishalf-shell covers a range of 20 km s-1 but could reach 40 kms-1 when extrapolating to the whole shell. The structure is120 pc across if located at 2 kpc, the distance to Cas OB7. At thisdistance, we estimate the mass of the shell to be approximately 30,000Msolar. Interestingly, all Cas OB7 members are located wellwithin the edge of this shell. We believe that there is a strong hint ofinteraction between the gas and the stars based on morphologicalevidence. The velocity of both objects (association and shell) and theirrespective distance are also in agreement. We explain the missing halfby an expansion into the interarm region.

UBV beta Database for Case-Hamburg Northern and Southern Luminous Stars
A database of photoelectric UBV beta photometry for stars listed in theCase-Hamburg northern and southern Milky Way luminous stars surveys hasbeen compiled from the original research literature. Consisting of over16,000 observations of some 7300 stars from over 500 sources, thisdatabase constitutes the most complete compilation of such photometryavailable for intrinsically luminous stars around the Galactic plane.Over 5000 stars listed in the Case-Hamburg surveys still lackfundamental photometric data.

Spectral classifications in the near infrared of stars with composite spectra. II. Study of a sample of 180 stars
A sample of 180 supposedly composite-spectrum stars has been studied onthe basis of spectra obtained in the near infrared (8370-8780 Angstroms)at a dispersion of 33 Anstroms/mm. The objective was to study the coolercomponents of the systems. Of our sample, 120 are true compositespectra, 35 are hot spectra of types B, F and 25 are Am stars. We find astrong concentration of the cooler components of the composite spectraaround G8III. In view of the difficulty of classifying compositespectra, because of the super position of an early type dwarf and a latetype giant or supergiant spectrum, we have made several tests to controlthe classification based upon the infrared region. Since all tests gavepositive results, we conclude that our classifications can be consideredas being both reliable and homogeneous. Table \ref{tab1} is alsoavailable electronically at the CDS via anonymous ftp 130.79.128.5 orhttp://cdsweb.u-strasbg.fr/Abstracts.html} Based upon observationscarried out at Observatoire de Haute-Provence (CNRS).

Extinction law survey based on UV ANS photometry
The paper presents an extensive survey of interstellar extinction curvesderived from the ANS photometric measurements of early type starsbelonging to our Galaxy. This survey is more extensive and deeper thanany other one, based on spectral data. The UV color excesses aredetermined with the aid of 'artificial standards', a new techniqueproposed by the authors which allows the special check of Sp/L match ofa target and the selected standard. The results indicate that extinctionlaw changes from place to place.

The visually brightest early-type supergiants in the spiral galaxies NGC 2403, M81, and M101
Moderate-resolution spectroscopy of the candidate brightest blue starsin the nearby spirals NGC 2403, M81, and M101 reveals that many are notsingle stars, but compact H II regions, clusters, and multiple systems. This is an additional and serious limitation on their use as distanceindicators. The derivation of the luminosities of the confirmed singleblue supergiants is discussed, and, combining these results withprevious work on the brightest red supergiants, a brief discussion andcomparison of the evolution of their most massive stars are given. Theproperties of the brightest blue and red stars in NGC 2403 and M81 arebasically in agreement with the pattern of massive-star evolutionobserved in Local Group galaxies. The distance to M101 is stillcontroversial, but at the larger distance modulus, the luminosities ofits brightest early and late-type supergiants place them beyond theEddington limit for their initial mass and temperature.

The interstellar 217 NM band - A third catalogue of equivalent widths
A catalog of equivalent widths of the 217 nm interstellar absorptionband as well as other parameters characterizing the extinction curve inthe ultraviolet has been compiled for 790 O and B stars. A relativelytight correlation between the equivalent width of the 217 nm band andE(B-V) indicates that the absorber of this band is connected with thepopulation of larger interstellar grains responsible for the visualextinction. The parameter characterizing the amount of extinction in thefar UV is only weakly correlated with E(B-V), a result in accord withthe assumption that a second population of very small grains causes therapid increase of the far-UV extinction.

Catalog of O-B stars observed with Tokyo Meridian Circle
A catalog of the O-B stars, selected from 'Blaauw-Parenago' list andRubin's catalog, has been compiled on the FK4 system by the observationsmade with Gautier 8-inch Meridian Circle at the Tokyo AstronomicalObservatory during the period, 1971 to 1979. It contains 1059 stars andwas compiled for the future establishment of high precision propermotions of O-B stars.

Noncircular motions in the Perseus spiral arm
An examination of the motions of the optical spiral tracers in thePerseus arm reveals a clear kinematic separation between the inner andouter sides of the arm. Those objects on the inner or near side have amean velocity residual of -10.7 km/s, while those on the outer or farside have a mean positive residual of +7.0 km/s. These velocityresiduals are interpreted in terms of the linear density-wave theory asstreaming motions between the sides of the arm. Plausible solutions forthe amplitudes of the noncircular motions yielded 10 to 20 km/s and 7 to15 km/s for the radial and tangential components, respectively. Theseresults are about twice the amplitudes suggested by the theory.

Bemerkungen über das (B-V)/(U-B)-Diagramm der O-,B-Sterne
All O-A0 stars with known MK-spectra and photoelectric magnitudes (U, B,V system) have been used to investigate the form of the reddening paths. For small reddening (B-V < 1^m) the reddening paths can be consideredas parallel straight lines with the slope 0.76. A luminosity effect onthe position of the reddening paths is present. Consequences of thiseffect on intrinsic colors are discussed.
